The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly Inaugurated its Health Committee on Thursday, the 26th of June 2025, at the Assembly Hall of the Municipal Assembly, according to the Ghana Health Services and Teaching Hospital Act, 525 (1996)
The Act, 1996 (Act 525) mandates the Committee to serve in an advisory capacity to the District Directorate of Health Service, ensuring the effective delivery of Health Services at the local level.
Membership of the Committee includes;
- Chairman – Honourable Municipal Chief Executive
- The Municipal Director of Health Services (secretary)
- Two representatives of the Municipal Assembly
- One representative of Christian and Muslim groups in the Municipality
- Two healthcare personnel in the municipality, one of whom shall be from the private sector
- A representative of the Traditional Council in the municipality
- Members referred to under subsection (2) a, e, and g, appointed by a council on the advice of the municipal Chief Executive Officer.
The Inauguration was carried out by Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey, and members were sworn in with the oath of secrecy and allegiance into office.
In his closing remarks, the Hon. MCE stressed the need for members to adhere to the dictate and mandate of the committee to enhance discussion of health care delivery within the Municipality.
