WGMA Undertakes Disinfection Exercise. 

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly has, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, embarked on a massive disinfection exercise. 

The exercise which was undertaken on Monday,  23rd March 2020, was under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor. 

Madam Mercy Quansah, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Grace Ahlibi, Municipal Finance Officer, Mrs Patience Akasraku, Municipal Environmental Health Officer and Mrs Cynthia Bonsah, Municipal Development Planning Officer were all in attendance. 

Some heads of Departments of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly and staff aided the exercise. 

Some staff of Zoomlion, a sanitation company, were deployed to help in the spraying exercise. 

The exercise, codenamed ' National Disinfection Exercise - COVID-19' is being replicated in most parts of the nation's capital, Accra. 

Mallam Junction was the starting point for Weija-Gbawe. 

The team disinfected lorry stations, gutters shops and the frontage of some residences.

Most residents and shop owners were very cooperative and gave the thumps up to the MCE and the team for the yeoman's job. 

The exercise, which lasted for well over four (4) hours, covered the Mallam township, parts of Gbawe, Weija and the GICEL Estates. 

In an interview with the media, Hon Patrick Kumor (MCE) advised residents to take the education on the corona

virus seriously and adhere to the strict rules on personal hygiene, especially the washing of hands with soap under running water, use of sanitizers and keeping the social distance.
