On May 12, 2025, Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey was unanimously confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region. His nomination followed the revocation of appointments for 24 Municipal and District Chief Executives by President John Drammani Mahama.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony includes; the chief, Mp for Weija Gbawe, Hon. Jerry Shaib Ahmed, The Presiding member, Hon. Ayitey Blankson, assembly members for Weija Gbawe constituency, electoral commission and Heads of Department in Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly.
The ceremony begun with an opening prayer and a speech from Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib. In his speech, he pleaded with the Assembly members for confirm the nominee once and for all and to do it for the Betterment of Weija Gbawe, not themselves.
During the confirmation ceremony at the Municipal Assembly Hall, all assembly members present cast their votes in favour of Mr. Felix, granting him a unanimous endorsement after the EC read out the rules and regulations regarding the election which they used the secret voting method. The Presiding Member, Hon. Ayitey Blankson, commended the assembly members for their unanimous support and urged them to collaborate with the new MCE to drive development in the municipality.
The confirmation of Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey marks a new chapter for the Weija-Gbawe Municipality, with residents and officials hopeful for enhanced development and improved governance under his leadership.
