The Hon. Assembly members of Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly underwent a two days intensive orientation programme that was aimed at equipping them with the necessary knowledge to function effectively as Assembly Members.
The training program, which was organized by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in collaboration with the Institute of Local Government Studies, was facilitated by Mr. Emmanuel Baisie, a local government and smart cities expert who was also the team leader. Also with him were Mr. Kokro Amankwah, the Secretary-General for NALAG and Miss Sakina Adam, a policy analyst at the IMCCoD
The Hon. MCE, Michael Danquah, during the opening of the training, stressed the importance of the programme and remarked that although it was coming in late, it was better late than never. He emphasized that such trainings are needed to ensure that Assembly members are well prepared for the work ahead of them.
He thanked the facilitators for putting together such training and urged all participants to fully cooperate with the facilitators to have a successful programme.
At the of the two days, the training was a huge success with participants expressing appreciation to the organizers and the Assembly for the programme.
The Coordinating Director Mr. Bernard Mats Yingura, in his closing remarks, touched on the need to translate what they have learnt into practice in serving the community and helping the Assembly in the effective and efficient management of the Municipality.
The training arrangements and facilities organization was done by the Municipal Himan Resource Manager Francis Atta-Woode and his team of HRs.
