RUGBY LEAGUE FEDERATION, GHANA DONATES TO THE GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE OF WEIJA-GBAWE MUNICIPALITY

The Rugby Federation Ghana has on July 30, 2024 donated four rugby league balls to the Ghana
Education Service of the Weija- Gbawe Municipality.
The donation was done by Mr. Jafaru Awudu Mustapha, the General Manager- Rugby Federation
Ghana and Development Manager for Salford Red Devils Rugby league club and Madam Rachel
Ankomah, Founder and Coach of Accra Majestics Sports Academy and Sports Development
Officer for National Sports Authority.
 
Madam Rachel Ankomah disclosed that their main aim is to develop Rugby league in the
Municipality through grassroots programs in schools, youth training and talent identification to
create a pipeline to the national team. Mr. Awudu also added that, the federation will donate more
balls when they see the enthusiasm in the kids.
 
The Municipal Chief Director, Mr. Bernard Mats Yingura and the Municipal Human Resource
Officer, Mr. Francis Atta-Woode received the balls on behalf of the Municipality and handed
them over to the teachers. The MCD, then thanked the Federation and promised to help in
bringing more kids to love the rugby league game.
The teachers on the other hand showed their appreciation to Accra Majestics and the Federation for
choosing Weija-Gbawe as a base to start Rugby league.
The Rugby League Federation Ghana is the governing body for the sport of Rugby League in
Ghana which was formed on April 6, 2014.
Accra Majestics is a non-profit sports Academy in Ghana and a member of the Rugby League
Federation Ghana.
