The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly held its Town Hall Meeting on March 21, 2024 at the Hope Generation Ministry International at Oblogo.
The meeting had the presence of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Michael Danquah, Assembly Members and Unit Committee Members in the Municipality, Staff from the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, The Oblogo Chief, Oblogo Lamptey, Personnels from the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the NPP aspirant for the Member of Parliament and some residents as well.
Madam Ernestina Akosua Asiedua, the Assembly member for the Djama electoral area gave the opening remarks on behalf of the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Vida Awuku.
Hon. Michael Danquah entreated all the people present to pay attention and ask questions when needed as the purpose of the meeting was to know how the Assembly is utilizing the funds and resources generated from the people. He also urged all to partake in the developmental projects of the Municipality by doing what is expected of them as in the payment of the various taxes brought to them.
The Physical Planning, Budget, Agriculture and Works Department gave an account of their achievements and failures in the year 2023.
There were developmental projects such as the installation of 336 streets lights, construction of the Gonse Police Station, grading of roads, planting of trees under the Green Ghana project, educating the public on disaster and many more by the Assembly.
Madam Antoinette, the Agricultural Director disclosed eleven prioritized commodities for the ‘’planting for food and job (PFJ phase 2). These are grains and legumes (rice, maize, soyabean, sorghum), vegetables (tomatoes, pepper, onion), plantain, roots and tubers and poultry.
There was a period of questions and answers. Introduction of the elected Assembly members was done and the MCE, in his closing remarks entreated the residents not to take building permit for granted as most of the questions and problems of the people circulated around it.
