Sanitation Ministry Distributes Waste Buckets

The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources has distributed waste buckets to ten MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region.

The waste buckets were procured by the African Development Bank (AfDB) through the Greater Accra Sustainable Sanitation and Livelihoods Improvement Project (GASSLIP). 

The distribution was made on behalf of the ministry by the sector Minister, Hon Cecilia Abena Dapaah on Wednesday, 13th May 2020 at a short ceremony in Accra.

Present at the ceremony were the Mayor of Accra, Hon Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the Deputy Minister for Sanitation, Hon Michael Yao Gyato, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kumor and other Municipal Chief Executives.

The Project Coordinator, Mr. Stephen Ackon took the Minister and her team round to inspect the bins.

The MMDAs that benefited are Weija-Gbawe, Korle Klottey, La Nkwantanang, La Dadekotopon, and Madina Municipal Assemblies.

The rest are the Accra Metro, Tema Metro, Ablekuma West, Ablekuma Central, and Adentan Municipal Assemblies.

Presenting the waste buckets, also known as skips bins to the chief executives of the beneficiary assemblies, Hon Cecilia Abena Dapaah said this is part of a consignment of thirty (30) skips bins to be distributed to a total of twenty-five (25) MMDA s.

She said another consignment of tricycles would be given out when they arrive.

Hon Dapaah asked the chief executives to ensure cleanliness in their various jurisdictions.

Receiving the buckets on behalf of the MCEs present, Hon Nii Noi Adumuah, Municipal Chief Executive for the Adentan Municipal Assembly, thanked the Minister for the presentation and pledged to keep the bins operational and ensure their maintenance regularly.
