The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly on Friday, 10th March 2023 embarked on a demolition exercise at Gbawe Gonsee.
Hon. Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), supported by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Hon. Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah and assisted by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Madam Vida Awuku, led the exercise to remove the unauthorized structures on the Assembly's acquired lands.
The lands, earmarked for a police station and a basic school, had been taken over by illegal developers.
The demolition team compromised of the works department of the Municipal Assembly and a combined team of the military and the police.
The stretch of land has been penciled for a police station, a clinic and a basic school.
Currently, the clinic project is almost complete awaiting furniture and other logistics.
Speaking to the media, Hon. Kumor (MCE) said even though there are various developmental projects on the drawing board, land to execute them remains elusive.
He went on to say that, the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly (WGMA) will not sit unconcerned for its lands meant for development, which will benefit the community, to be encroached on.
