Nii Adam Kwatei Quartey, the Chief kingmaker (Jaasetse) of the Gbawe stool of the Asere clan, celebrated his hundredth (100) birthday on Friday, 20th January 2023.


The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly (WGMA) and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, were not left out of the centenary celebration.


The Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Tina Mensah and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Patrick Kumor, led a delegation from the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly to the residence of the celebrant, Nii Adam Kwatei Quartey, also known as, Alhaji.


Members of the team included the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Vida Awuku, the Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Andrew Oppong Amoako, Hon. Godfred Adjei Laryea, Hon. Karl Raymond Brown and Nii Larbie Mensah VI, Chief of Ablekuma and Chief Internal Auditor of the Municipal Assembly.


The rest were, Mr. Musah Sensau and Madam Dorinda Owusu Acheampong, both Deputy Directors, Madam Rebecca Awo, Development Planner and Mr. Gabriel Tawiah, the Municipal Finance Officer.


The team presented a cow, drinks and an undisclosed sum to Alhaji for the celebration of his birthday.


Hon. Tina Mensah (MP), who spoke on behalf of the team, thanked God for the life of the celebrant.


She recounted her and the Municipal Assembly's cordial interactions with the Alhaji and, by extension, the Gbawe stool.


She prayed for God's continued guidance and protection for Nii Adam Kwatei Quartey.


Nii Adam Kwatei Quartey who received the presentations in the presence of the chief of Gbawe, Nii Boi Kojo II and the traditional council, was so happy and was thankful for the gifts.


He reiterated the traditional council's commitment to the development of the area and Weija-Gbawe as a whole.
