The newly constructed Gbawe Pig Abattoir has undergone a successful test run.
The test run on Tuesday, 17th August 2022, brought all the stakeholders in the pig value chain to the facility to witness the event.
The Executive Director of OLIVES, facilitators of the project, Dr. Moses Ogoe, who explained the concept of the abattoir to the media, said with the construction of the abattoir, slaughtering of the pigs would be done hygienically and employment will be generated for the people.
The process from the holding pen through the slaughter house went on smoothly with onlookers highly impressed.
The Manager of the abattoir, the Gbawe Pig Abattoir, Dr. Osei Bonsu, in an interview, said he was happy with the test run.
He said a few things needed to be put together for operations to commence.
Mrs. Mercy Quansah Ogoe, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, said she was highly elated that after three years of construction, the project has seen the light of day.
