The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly (WGMA) will soon put some households and institutions in Tetegu, before the law courts.
The said offenders are in contravention of the Assembly's bye-laws on liquid and solid waste management.
This came to light after a team of environmental health officers of the WGMA on Tuesday 17th May 2022, upon an alert, went on a search of unauthorized sewerage pipes connected into the Densu river in the community.
The team, using a canoe, uncovered about fifteen (15) households and institutions who had, illegally, channelled their
sewerage into the river, thereby polluting the river.
The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Madam Mariama Oliver Braimah, said her office has issued an ultimatum to the offenders to disconnect the pipes within two (2) days, that is by the close of work on Friday, 20th May 2022.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, in an interview, said the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the bye-laws are strictly adhered to.
Hon. Kumor (MCE), said the exercise is an ongoing one which started in Tetegu and stretching to Weija, Oblogo, the Baale area and parts of Mallam.
He said failure on the part of the affected persons and institutions issued with the notices to revert, will leave the Assembly no option than to bundle them before the law court.
