The Member of Parliament (MP) of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency and Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Mercy Quansah Ogoe, and heads of departments of the Municipal Assembly on Thursday, 16th December 2021 met with the chiefs and elders of the Gbawe stool.
The meeting which was at the invitation of the Gbawe stool was held at the Gbawe Palace.
The Acting Jaasetse of Gbawe, Isaac Nii Laryea Quartey, the Gbawe Gonsee Mantse, Nii Mensah Kwashie, and Solomon Afutu Quartey, the Gbawe Stool Secretary, led the Gbawe side.
Also present at the meeting was the Assembly Member for Gbawe East electoral area, Hon. Godfred Adjei-Laryea.
The essence of the meeting was to deliberate on the use of certain lands in the Gbawe community.
The Gbawe stool wanted the Assembly to grant them the permit to re-zone some roads which they considered too wide.
They wanted the Municipal Assembly to allow them to repossess portions of those roads for residential/commercial purposes.
The Municipal Physical Planning Officer, Mrs. Doris Kally Edusei, the Head of Works, Ing. William Okpoti, and the Roads Engineer, Ing. Daniel Sowah, advised that the issues could only be resolved when all interested parties meet on-site for a proper assessment.
Both the MP and the MCE appealed to the stool to hold on with all developments on the said sites until a final decision is arrived at.
