MP, MCE And Assembly Members, Tour Selected Project Sites

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Hon. Tina Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon. Patrick Kumor, and Assembly Members of the Municipal Assembly, led by the Presiding Member, Hon. Oduro Ampaw, has embarked on a tour of some selected project sites in the municipality.

 

The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mrs. Mercy Quansah Ogoe, Head of Works, Ing. William Okpoti, Municipal Roads Engineer, Ing. Daniel Sowah, and other heads of departments of the Municipal Assembly, accompanied the team.

 

The tour, on Monday, 31st May 2021, took the team to six (6) different projects in various electoral areas.

 

The ongoing Infectious Diseases and Diagnostic Centre project at the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital was toured first.

 

The Works Foreman of the project, Mr. Quarme, received the team.

 

He took the team around the project site as he explained the various stages of the project to the visitors.

 

He said one of the residential accommodations, to be occupied by the Administrator of the Weija Leprosarium, would be ready by the end of the week.

 

At the Gbawe Abattoir where machines for the slaughter block were being installed, Ing. Okpoti explained that, with the installation almost completed, the landscaping would follow to complete construction works.

 

The Managing Director of Rosehill Ghana Limited, Mr. Manfred Frimpong, welcomed the team and took them around the eleven (11) unit Gonsee school site.

 

He promised to hand over the project by the end of June 2021.

 

At the SHS site at Weija, the consultant on the project, Ing. Frimpong, welcomed the team and took them to the various structures which are at different stages of completion.

 

He said, barring any hitches, the project would be ready for the intake of its first batch of students next academic year.

 

The tour team was at the New Weija West Electoral Area where a culvert at Azumah Last Stop is under construction.

 

It is a Feeder Roads/WGMA-funded project.

 

The Municipal Roads Engineer, Ing. Daniel Sowah, said the bridge, which has been completed, is yet to cure for usage by both vehicles and pedestrians.

 

A motorable bridge over the Densu to link Old to New Weija is currently under construction.

 

Asabea Engineering Limited is undertaking the construction of the bridge.

 

The bridge site was the last tour site.

 

The site engineer welcomed the team to the project which is thirty (30) percent completed.

 

A tour of the site by the team showed the extent of work done and the professional attitude of the workers.

 

Speaking to the media after the tour, the Presiding Member, Hon. Oduro Ampaw said they were overwhelmed with the extensive developmental projects in the municipality.

 

He reiterated their earlier call on the President to re-nominate the MCE, Hon. Patrick Kumor, to continue with his good works.
