The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly has held its annual staff durbar.
The event came off at the Institute for Technical Supervision (ITS) on Monday, 23rd December 2019, was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Mercy Quansah, heads of Departments of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly and other members of staff.
The staff durbar is held, at least once a year, to take stock of the activities of the year, appreciate deserving staff, make projections for the next year and to address issues of common concern.
Addressing the durbar, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Mercy Quansah congratulated members for their hard work during the year which enabled the Assembly exceed its revenue target.
She, however, did not mince words in admonishing the few who have employed an apathetic attitude to work.
Madam Mercy Quansah ended by announcing that come next year, staff who do not use the automated clock-in would be considered as absentee employees.
The Municipal Chief Executive of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, on his part, said the year has been an impressive improvement on the previous year.
He said, next year, deserving staff would be appreciated openly during the durbar.
The MCE said, in the year under review, massive infrastructural developments and projects have taken place, some completed, in the municipality.
He made special mention of the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's visit and sod cutting ceremony for the construction of the Science based SHS at Weija, which he said would be completed in ten (10) months.
Hon Patrick Kumor (MCE) said since the year 2020 has been declared, 'a year of roads', Weija-Gbawe will have its fair share. He mentioned specific roads that will receive attention early next year.
As a token of love, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor (MCE) shared chocolate to the staff of the Municipal Assembly.
During an open forum, members of staff shared their experiences, asked questions and put forward suggestions to move the Municipal Assembly forward.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Mercy Quansah, answered most of the questions and was thankful for the suggestions put out.
She thanked all for coming, and while wishing all a merry Christmas, she announced that the Assembly had prepared tokens to be given to members of staff for the Yule tide.
