Massive Demolition In Weija-Gbawe

NEWS UPDATE!!!

Some unauthorised and illegal structures in some parts of the Weija-Gbawe Municipality have been demolished.

The demolition exercise, which  took place on Thursday, 17th January 2019, was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor.

The MCE led a combined team of engineers, task force members and a joint military and police team. The media was not left out.

It would be recalled that on 29th October 2018, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor (MCE) in the company of engineers, media personnel and a joint military and police team, went round the affected areas to officially inform occupants of the strictures to vacate on or before the 15th of January 2019.

Some of these structures were either in water ways or had blocked access to homes.

The demolition team started at New Weija near St. Jude Catholic School where a structure was being put up in the middle of a very important access road.

The next point of call was along highway from Tetegu to Mallam Junction.

At the Ramseyer Site at the Mallam Interchange, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor (MCE) extended the ultimatum to Monday, 28th January 2019. This was after the illegal occupants had pleaded for an extension.

In an interview with the media, the MCE said  what is being done is  in line with the President's commitment to make Accra the cleanest city on the continent. He ended by stating that there must be an effort by all and sundry to help  realise this dream.

The exercise will resume in a few days.

PRO, Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly.
