Borla Road Construction Begins

Borla Road Construction Begins.

The 1.5 kilometres Borla Road (1st Atoom Kwashie Street)   construction has begun.

The road, when completed, will serve as a vital link between Mallam and Top Base without going through Gbawe.

Cutting the sod for the commencement of the project of the road on Wednesday, 6th November 2019, both the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency and Deputy Minister for Health, Hon Tina Naa Ayele Mensah and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, impressed upon the contractors, Messrs Husbuja Construction Limited, to work hard to complete the project ahead of the scheduled one (1) year duration.

The sod cutting ceremony was well attended by the chiefs and elders of Gbawe, opinion leaders, residents and party faithfuls.

In an address, read on his behalf, the chief of  Gbawe, Nii Laryea Faamlite ll, said recent  happenings, in respect to projects, in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality, have convinced him of the capabilities of the MP and the MCE.

Nii Laryea Faamlite ll, cited the Top Base area roads which have been completed and the Bulemin Road, which is currently under construction.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Mercy Quansah, said the cohesion between the two personalities (MP and the MCE) has accelerated development in the municipality within the one year of the Municipal Assembly's existence. She, therefore, asked all to support them to bring more development.

Hon Patrick Kumor (MCE), said the ceremony wasn't going to be a flash in the pan.

He said the contractors are on site to work immediately the ceremony was performed.

The MCE, as usual, demanded value for money. He enumerated projects that would take off in the month of November. These include a motorable bridge to link Old and New Weija, some roads in the New Weija Electoral Area, the Djanman and Zero roads.

Hon Tina Mensah (MP), who mounted pressure on the powers that be for the contractors to come on site, said she was so happy the project has seen the light of day.

The Member of Parliament for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency and Deputy Minister for Health, said she has endured a  lot of insults from residents and road users due to the deplorable state of the road.

She, therefore, asked the contractors to do a professional job.

Speaking to some residents and opinion leaders in the area, they were so happy that the Borla Road would, at last, be constructed.
