Weija-Gbawe Marks Farmers Day

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly has celebrated this year's National Farmers Day.
 
The day was celebrated with a grand durbar at the forecourt of the Institute of Technical Studies (ITS).
 
The event, marked on Friday 7th December 2018, was the maiden event organised by the Municipal Assembly.
 
The event saw the Creme de la creme of the municipality in attendance.
 
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, the Member of Parliament for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency and Deputy Minister for Health, Hon Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah and the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Mercy Quansah were all in attendance.
 
The Municipal Finance Officer, Mrs Grace Ahlibi, the Municipal Agricultural Director, Mr Daniel Nartey,  the Presiding Member, Assembly Members, the Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Mr Michael Danquah and the Constituency Executives, Heads of Departments, members of staff and the general public were not left out.
 
Some members of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party also graced the occasion.
 
The chiefs and their elders were fully represented.
 
The chairman for the occasion was Nii Boafo Danyinanse, Jaasetse of Weija.
 
Hon Kumor, in his keynote address, announced various measures put in place to make farming attractive to the youth.  He said his outfit is going all out to enhance farming in the municipality.
 
Hon Tina Mensah, on her part appealed to the chiefs to make land available to those interested in going into agriculture.
 
Special acknowledgements went to some individuals and companies who made donations in cash and in kind.
 
Mr Paul Senehia was adjudged the best farmer in the municipality.
