The Municipal Chief Executive for the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, has inspected an abandoned dumping site at Mandela, New Weija.
The inspection on Monday, 10th December 2018, followed complaints by residents of Mandela in the New Weija Electoral Area of the health hazards the site posed to them.
Hon Kumor was led to the site by the Assembly Member for the New Weija Electoral Area, Hon Oduro Ampaw.
The team also comprised of the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Mercy Quansah, the Municipal NADMO Director, Hon Adu Boahen, the Municipal Environmental Director, Madam Patience Adasreku and other staff of the Municipal Assembly.
Residents of the area told the MCE that a lady had acquired the place as a landfill site. After the place got filled up, she didn't cap it with laterite as is the practice.
Hon Patrick Kumor assured the residents of the Municipal Assembly's commitment to see the matter to its conclusion. He further asked that the lady in question be invited to the Municipal Assembly for dialogue.
