MCE tours flood areas

Due to the opening of the spillways of the Weija Dam, a number of communities along the banks have been flooded.

Today, Monday 22nd October 2018, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Weija/Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kumor, and the Member of Parliament for Weija/Gbawe Constituency, Hon Tina Mensah, toured the affected communities.

Other members of the team included the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Mercy Quansah, Assistant Director, Nii Lantei Mills, NADMO officials and some members of staff of the Assembly.

This was a follow-up to the MCE's visit last night.

Communities visited were Weija, Ash Bread at SCC, Tetegu and Wiaboman.

Hon Patrick Kumor, in an interview, said the Assembly will, in the coming days, open up another estuary at Tsokome to allow a free flow into the sea.

In the long term, there will be a stakeholders meeting to look at the possibility of the construction of embankments along the waterway to solve the problem.
