News alert from Weija/Gbawe Municipal Watch Tower;

Confirmed reports indicate that the Weija dam has been opened to give way for excess water to flow out of  the dam as part of a regular process to keep the dam safe.

The opening of the third gate of the dam with its related spillage has flooded part of Weija township, Tetegu and New Weija-SCC.

Following the spillage, the Municipal Chief Executive-Hon. Patrick K.B. Kumor, the Regional and Municipal NADMO teams led by Hon. Achibold Cobbina visited the affected areas early this evening to assess the extent of damage and to ensure the safety of people living in such areas.

The Watch tower warns all persons  living in the affected areas to evacuate temporarily to avert calamity. 

Watch tower further warns all residents living along the banks of the river to take precautionary measures since it's likely the spillage will further divert its course.
