The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor has demolished structures along the banks of the Korkordjor river.
He was accompanied by the Municipal Roads Engineer, Ing. Daniel Sowah, and the Works Engineer, Ing. William Okpoti.
The exercise, on Wednesday 21st April 2021, was jointly performed with the regional NADMO outfit led by the Regional Director, Mr. Archibold Cobbinah with the assistance of the Municipal NADMO led by its Director, Hon. Adu Boahen.
Engineers from the Hydro Department of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources provided an excavator with did the demolition.
Some members of the residents' association were witnesses to the demolition exercise.
It had become, increasingly, difficult for excavators to gain access to the affected portions during dredging and desilting.
The exercise, with the support of a combined military and police team, went on smoothly.
With this done with, dredging can be done on that stretch to forestall the perennial flooding of the area during the rainy season.
Some members of the community expressed satisfaction at the exercise and hoped that the demolished structures will not spring up again.
